Doing some work on my Kline hudson tonight as I install a new Cruise Commander.  I don’t do much work with TMCC, but as I was tracing the wires out, I was surprised to see the LED class lights look to be powered right off the AC track power with only resistor and no diode inline with them to protect them from reverse polarity of the AC wave.

Is this pretty typical on how all the Lionel TMCC steamers power the class lights?  As I saw this, I thought to myself it might explain why I see so many of these lights (including LEDs on tender) failed and needing replaced on used Lionel engines.

Is any one using diodes inline with a resized resistor for powering the LEDs and seeing a longer life out of them?
