Hello,

I am not very familiar with the TMCC boards and fixes so forgive me if this is basic.  I have two engines where the smoke unit turns on as soon as track power is turned on.  Then the smoke unit will then pulse on and off.  Does anybody have a suggestion?

Thank you,

Dave

The smoke units will start up in the same mode as when the engine was shut down. If you want to turn the smoke unit off and have it start up "off" hit AUX1 8. It should stay off even with the slide switch set to ON unless you do a reset. AUX1 9 turns it back on.

As for the pulsing, does it do it with the engine running or stationary? TMCC engines use either mechanical puffer pistons or can be fan driven. Neither should pulse with the engine stationary.

How about an exact model number of the locomotive?  For most steamers, I'd do the following to see if that helps.

STEP 1: Move switch on locomotive from run to program.
STEP 2: Turn on Command Base.
STEP 3: Place locomotive on track, then turn on power to track.
STEP 4: Press “ENG” then input locomotive ID#. Press “SET”.
STEP 5: Press ”ENG” then input locomotive ID# again.
STEP 6: Press “AUX 1”, then input the reprogramming code 4.
