I am looking to add TMCC to my, 6-24511 Locomotive. What would the proper board and or part number be? It has railsounds and smoke but these may be an option to upgrade also. Thank you for any recommendations.

Since this is not the "upgradeable" unit with a motherboard that's going to directly support the R2LC and DCDR, the obvious path is using the ERR products. The sound board is also going to have to be replaced as it has a conventional sound board that won't recognize the serial data.
That being said, the ERR Cruise Commander and the ERR RailSounds Commander for F3/F7 is probably what I'd use for the upgrade.
The Lionel parts listing doesn't mention any smoke, nor does the User's Guide, I'm not sure what it has.
The Lionel website says it has smoke, but smoke from a diesel always seemed silly to me. Although the Cruise Commander will support a smoke unit, I would just leave the smoke unit out.
Use the Cruise Commander. Don't cheap out for a DC Commander. The joy of operating with cruise control will make you forget all about the few extra bucks.
It's odd, that's the only place it's mentioned. The linked manual doesn't show it, and it also doesn't show any smoke switch. With a conventional locomotive, a smoke switch is pretty much mandatory, a surprising omission.

The website could be wrong as well.
Has Lionel ever printed contradictory information in the past?
😂

True, but without the unit to look at, I have to go with what I see published by the manufacturer. If it has a smoke unit, then the parts breakdown and the user's manual are obviously wrong.
