They have 2 stores, one in Brooklyn and one in Lynbrook. You can get to either by taking the train but the Lynbrook store is bigger and has more stuff on the shelf. If you have a car, parking around the Brooklyn location is the stuff of nightmares. Lynbrook has a parking lot! Enjoy your visit to NYC.

Also check out the High Line while you're visiting. It is former NY Central elevated tracks converted into a park.

Ans I live here Ill give you the low down. Train World is not open to walk ins. Its all shipping and receiving now.  That may have changed, though.  You have to take a 40 min Subway ride there. As stated earlier, Trainland in Lynbrook is big and is a nice store. It is very easy to get to. You can take a train, Long Island Railroad, from Penn Station  34th and 7th Ave right to Lynbrook. Trainland is a 5 min walk from the station down Sunrise Highway and there are side walks. But Trainland is not open on Weekends until after Labor Day.

In the link Bruce provided it states "The Showroom Is Closed".  It appears they have a pick-up window if you order from them and are a local.  Trainland has the showroom and as Bob said, hop back on the train a few more stops to Freeport and walk to Nassau Hobby.  "That's two, two, two stores in one!"

Hi Everyone,

Just clarifying.  Please check our website or call our store for the most up-to-date information.

Around 1979, my Son started working for Pete at the only location at the time; Ave M in Brooklyn. The store was right next to the Brighton line and there was a station at Ave M. Many customers that were in Manhattan on business; would take the train out to Brooklyn to see Train World. Here is an Angela Trotta Thomas rendering of that store. IMG_9558
