My Cab-1L suddenly stopped communicating with the Base-1L. The power to the tracks is still there as the lights on the engines and cars are still working. The lights on the Base-1L will no longer flash when I transmitted from the Cab-1L. I replaced the batteries, but with the same results. I've never come across the problem before, so I'm reaching out for some help.

#1 are you sure the batteries are making contact? Because there is some variation in batteries the lengths and protrusions of the + post are not mechanically as accurate as we would hope. Also the spring battery contacts can become loose. The test is hold the remote close to your ear and press the whistle/horn button as an example, there is a slight audible beep with button presses indicating the remote has power and is transmitting.
#2 Setting the radio channel output of the remote to match the base. It's possible you somehow got a mismatch.
Listen closely while you hit the number keys, you should hear a small chirp from the remote. If so, make sure the channel is set to the same channel as the command base.
Thanks for your help guys! I found the problem. There was a small amount of oxidation on one of the battery contacts and the battery wasn't making good contact. I clean it off and everything works fine.
