I have a RailKing PCC street car with Proto-Sound 3.0  (30-5133-1).  This street car has 9 TAS stops.  I have a WTIU and started trying out the “learn” mode function.  Now, when I turn on “automode”, the 1st of 9 TAS stops is skipped and the first TAS stop announced is the 2nd stop.  It will cycle through all 9 TAS stops including the 1st stop, but it will no longer start with the 1st stop.

Here is what I’ve done trying to get back to the factory setting of TAS stop sequence:

  • Remove and added street car in the DCS application.
  • Feature and factory reset of street car with WTIU
  • Feature and factory reset of street car with a DCS Explorer
  • Feature and factory reset of street car using conventional method (Factory reset = H-B-B-B-B-B)
  • WTIU feature reset
  • WTIU factory reset
  • Uninstalled/reinstalled DCS application from my Android device
  • Tried the above on an Apple iphone.

So how to get it back to the stock sequence of TAS stops (1 through 9)?  And where (street car, DCS application, or WTIU) are the sequence of TAS stops stored after messing around with “learn” mode?

I know this is not a big problem but I want to get back to the factory TAS sequence that I’m used to.

TIA,

Rick

Thanks for the reply Gerald.  I fiddled around for hours trying to understand "learn mode" and I'm sure that I exited learn mode w/o correctly getting it to say "save complete" as it should when using learn mode properly.  My new user error.  Because of your question I went back and did learn mode correctly and successfully got it to say "save complete".  But still, when I go into "automode" the 2nd stop is announced, not the 1st stop like it should.  I've removed/added, feature and factory reset the PCC car, but the 1st stop is skipped.  I'm hoping that in the future when the WTIU supports replacing sound files, I will be able to make the 1st stop 1st by replacing the sound file.  In the mean time, do you have any other helpful advice?  TIA, Rick

Thanks for the reply John.  I broke out the old KW transformer and did as you suggested.  I did a factory reset using the horn/bell box that I made using the 6 diode circuit discussed many time on this forum.  Still no luck.  The 1st TAS stop continues to be skipped when I enter "automode".   I even mastered this "learn" mode thing and programmed all 9 TAS stops selecting the TAS stops in the order that came from the factory.  And BTW after some practice I can now reliably get the "save complete" confirmation at the end of a successful "learn" mode session.  And still when I enter "automode" the 1st TAS stop is skipped!  The second TAS stop is the first to be announced.  Very weird.   Do you know where (street car, DCS application, or WTIU) are the sequence of TAS stops stored after messing around with “learn” mode?  I suspect that the TAS stop sequence is stored in the street cars memory as whatever I program using "learn" mode is set back to the factory setting after doing a factory reset (with of course the exception of skipping the first stop).  Thanks for any wisdom you can shed of this odd problem.  I know that this is a trivial problem but I'd like to fix it.

Rick
