I have a fairly small layout, I set up each year then return it all to their nice boxes in January. I have a Legacy controller that I can run separately two Lion Chief 2.0 ET44s, I've given them IDs and they run fine separately. When I try to create a lash up I go thru all the steps, the controller shows the train being built successful but no horn or light flash or any response from the Lashed pair, again I can use the ENG soft key and they respond as separate units? I've cleared the legacy controller and tried again with failure. Any ideas on what's missing or doing incorrectly? I had them operating as a lashup last year. thanks for input

Are you using TR (train) numbers between 1 and 9 for the lash-up? TMCC lashups don't recognize TR numbers from 10 and up.
Not having any, do you have to lash them up as TMCC? We can't seem to get TMCC engines into a lash-up using a Cab-1L, can with the Cab-2 setting them as TMCC.
Tzer58,
What Legacy controller are you using Cab2 or Cab1L? If you are using the Cab1L make sure you are following the full instructions for setting up a TR found on pages 17-19 of you manual. Also on page 9 there is instructions for switching from Legacy to TMCC mode. The manual refers to controlling whistles/horns since I do not use a Cab1L this section may make more sense to you. Good luck!
If you are using a Cab2 make sure your train is in TMCC mode.

Also when building the TR make sure you use 2 digit numbers. As John said for TMCC it's only 01-09. So if your TR (lashup) is 8 you need to use 08 when programming it.
Good one Marty, I forgot about using the leading zero. Interestingly enough, with the CAB2, it doesn't mind a single number building the lashup, but with the CAB1 or CAB1L, it does.
Got it working, ! Thanks John, it was the TR number I had typed, entered a 1 and bingo problem solved.
I appreciate everyone’s comments.

Rules...rules...rules... Sometimes it's hard to keep all the different details straight as to what works with what.
I'm happy to say the information on this thread helped me get my SD80MAC operating in a lash up. I tried following videos on Youtube and while everything said it would work, no dice. The lionchief Plus 2.0's are nice but I was suspecting there was more than a configuration problem, my Legacy control system is at 1.6 so perhaps it must be upgraded. Nothing in the release notes for the issue, then on this thread the reply from John about only train numbers 1-9 for TMCC. I thought I couldn't have missed that detail in the instructions or the videos so I went back again and read the SD80MAC owners manual, twice and no mention. Also read through the Legacy control manual twice, and again no mention of this TR restriction on TMCC just the config example using TR 1. I would have thought that only recognizing 1-9 would have been important to note,.. Oh well, it works now. Thanks John,
Mike, I believe that's from way back when the CAB1/BASE1 was king, it's a TMCC limitation.
I’ve been trying to lashup my 2.0 engines without success. Thanks for the tip about using 1-9, It work perfectly!
You probably need more rope to LASH the engines together.
Oh, how I HATE that idiotic term, "lashup."

I always thought real RRs used chains, not rope.
