Cost of the boards is a factor, but if you do the work yourself it can cut down on the cost. I recently repainted and upgraded an old postwar Burlington GP7 I've had bouncing around for years. It can't be worth more than $100, but I had it, paint, decals, and the ERR electronics sitting around, so I figured why not. Added LED lighting while I was at it.
