Chuck,
Don't know much about LCS, don't know anyone that has used it. In any case, it seems too gimmicky to me.
Two years ago, I decided to add an overhead layout and upgrade my table layout with DCS. With the success of that, and all the new electronics, this year I decided to add two upper levels to the table layout. I did that and instead of using DCS to run three more engines, I tried LCP for those up levels. Very pleased with the simplicity and pulling power of LCP.
First, I care more about the line and attractiveness of the engines. Second, I wanted to run eight trains at the same time on the table layout for the sheer action of it. Because the overhead and table can never be connected, I run one or the other. Twelve engines at once is too much, especially if they're all Lionel and MTH. Third, I'm not at all interested in yard switching and using switchers to make up consists. None of my guests care about such things. They want to see the trains go and admire all the cool cars. Of course, I run toy train layouts. The poker guys love 'em. So do the little guys and girls.
If you're displeased with your current layout and wish to add upper levels, my advice is what many of the guys say...just get started on it. The best part is that you'll never be finished.
Nothing like our trains.....
All the best,
Jerry
