Ben,

Rarely does one go through life and meet someone of Marty's caliber.

I felt privileged----just to have some short talks with Marty.

He always had a vision---a plan ahead. What an interesting life.

Marty---thank you for being so kind and letting my grandson Mark run his trains

on this great layout. It's the kindest act that was ever offered to myself and the family.

Marty reached out to everyone and literally offered a beautiful place to

visit--with no prerequisites.

My hat is off to Marty and a farewell salute.

My best to the family.

My prayers go out for Marty and the Horning family. He was a good man and the way we know this is by all the good things he left behind in this world.

The NJ High Railers is probably one of many things he added to peoples lives in his all too short of a stay with us.

You guys have no idea how much I hate Cancer, it takes so much beauty from all of our lives.

Good-by Marty, may we all be together again in God's sweet time.

I only knew Marty to say hi to in passing at the Train Stocks but his influence and contributions were evident everywhere.

My sincerest condolences to both his families (his and the NJHR).  He will be missed.

The Hi-Railers layout can now serve as a monument to Marty and his contributions.

May he rest in peace and enjoy looking down on what he helped to create.

Dear NJHirailers,

This is very sad news to hear. At the very first trainstock I was to meet ben, but he was on a amtrak train to washington DC to watch the redskins & cowboys game. It was marty who made me feel welcome, showed me around the layout, introduced me to other club members. Through out the day when marty saw me, he always asked if I needed anything, or wanted a close up picture of something on the layout. All though I only saw him once a year for the next 4 years, his smile and kindness brought me back to the first trainstock. I know the NJHirailers will do the right thing to honor marty, but please have a time set aside at trainstock 6 for marty like we did for owen.

Rest In Peace my friend, and thank you for making a complete stranger feel like part of the NJHirailers family 5 years ago.

A terrible loss!

The last time I spoke to him was at one of the NJHirailers open house's. He was a great guy. I met him when I used to have my train store in Hillsdale, NJ (CB Train Depot). He and Matt were regular customers of my store. Always happy and great all around guy. I didn't see him for a few years after I closed the store. I went to a NJHirailers open house and I ran into him. It was like we just saw each other a few days ago. He gave me the grand tour of the place. Even the offices of the building.

He will be sorely missed.

My condolences to Matt, Bernie, and the whole family.

I am very saddened to hear of Marty's passing. Marty will be remembered as a man who truly loved people. If you met Marty, there was no way that you couldn't like him. Each time that I attended Trainstock he warmly greeted me as a friend with his trademark smile and handshake. He would greet everyone warmly and was always happy to share the layout that he loved with everyone.

I will fondly remember Marty for his generosity, kindness, and  hospitality. While we will miss Marty I am certain that he is now with the God of Israel experiencing the joy and love that he always brought to others.

My sincerest condolences to the Horning family for the loss of a very good man.
