A group of NJ HiRailer's members made the trek on Tuesday to visit with Dotty and Marty and experience their legendary hospitality.  They are great folks to visit with.  Not only does Marty have a fantastic layout and is a fount of knowledge in all things pertaining to O Gauge but he has a great story connected to EVERYTHING he owns.  He regaled us with story after story about how he acquired anything we asked about.  Moreover, most of which involved a fantastic deal!

Most impressively (at least he me) is that he offered to have me sign his wall.  An honor to be sure.

One picture that I'd like to point out is the shot of the TCA museum with a Corvette parked in front. Marty had a photo he took of his car at his first visit to the museum and when he had his train room walls painted he had the photo duplicated on the wall.  A fantastic personal touch!

Visiting was:  Gerry Morlitz, Bob DeGuarde, Chris Lonero, John Xenides (CaptainJohn) and myself.D20170328.T110307D20170328.T111247D20170328.T111302D20170328.T111411D20170328.T111422D20170328.T111804D20170328.T111849D20170328.T111916D20170328.T111955D20170328.T112330D20170328.T112410D20170328.T112510D20170328.T112612D20170328.T113515D20170328.T113553D20170328.T113825D20170328.T113844D20170328.T134804D20170328.T134838D20170328.T135457D20170328.T135916D20170328.T140035D20170328.T143104

Chris Lord, Gerry Morlitz, Bob LaGuarde, Chris Lonero, and Captain John were great to hang out with.  Lots of fun running trains and great company.  I was happy to get Chris to sign my wall.  I might put out a post of all those who have signed.

Gary, you have had many invites.  These guys live double the distance you have to travel.  Come by.

Mike has visited me many times.  Most are social and football weekends.  Mike and I live close to each other in Florida also.  He is only one of the great guys who have stopped by over the years.  I value all you great guys/gals on the forum.  John keeps telling me he will be by as he has family in the next town from me.   I have many who I want to sign my wall.  The top spot I am holding open is for Alan Arnold from OGR.  He has the layout that is a must see.

Thanks for the great pics. I feel like I have actually been in Marty's house.

Here in this part of California, we don't have the community you guys have back there. Makes me a little envious.

I met with a new friend from our last train show who is contemplating a big G scale layout in his backyard. He wants to form a club. We have healthy HO and N scale clubs here, but nothing in larger scales yet.

I'm envious of you that got to see Marty's layout.

For those of you who may not know, this layout is on OGR's (DVD/BLUERAY) Great Layout Adventures #13.  Rich Melvin and company has done an outstanding job of recording and distributing one fantastic layout after another in this series of recordings.

Be certain to check out the OGR Store to view all the videos.

I only hope that the Great Layout Adventure series continues...I have watched these over and over again.  Great people, great stories...thank you to Rich Melvin and crew!

It is ALWAYS great to visit Marty and Dotty. I have no idea how many times Mike Wolf has been there, but I met him there in 2009. I had some engines custom painted back then, one of which was a MTH scale GG1. We took a picture of him holding it. It's one of my favorites. Gerry

Marty has been in this hobby a long time, is a regular and helpful forum poster. Every year that we've attended York he was there. His interesting and great layout reflects the many technology upgrades and improvements in the hobby.  Although seeing the layout in pictures only, Marty's working centenary system is most impressive.
