Great pictures all! I also agree with Jack - that circus train scene is just increcible!
I took my first crack at scenery this weekend and created some visual interest for my daughter's shelf layout. Used some $4 insulation sheets, textured spray paint, post-Christmas clearance fake snow, and some trees from the LHS:

I have the same shelving you do and I noticed how much space you left between rows of shelving. You might consider 1 1/2" space with freight cars which will leave plenty of room for engine height. You could put another row of shelves up with the space savings. Just a thought. I really like your ceiling track.

yeah the shelves are 6 inchs in height from each other... i did that do leave plently of room with my pantographs up on my GG1's.
I've had this on the layout for the last few weeks. I picked up the 259E a couple of weeks before Christmas...it runs great and is in nice shape. It's a late version I believe...gunmetal with the thick blackened nickel rims and latch couplers.

Progress on Power Plant fuel oil platform and tanks.

Here are a few I shot before New Year's. The front 2/3 of the train is scale-wheeled, including the locomotives. They were doing well until #802 (lead unit) got a cruise-control malfunction.
The lighting on the Fuel Tanks just about completes the Power Plant Complex.
Some great Photos everyone.
Here is my NYC FT making it's way arround the layout with a bit of freight.

Photos from the permanent layout. This was our (my wife and I) first attempt at scenery: A small park. There will be a road in front of this (whenever we get back to NC!).

CP locomotive pulls into station
CP passenger train leaves the station behind the park
Thanks to all on the forum. We finally got up enough courage to try some scenery, and it turned out better than we thought it might. Would not have known where to start without all the info from all of you. Enjoy!

Dustin, I hope the trailer lights up, that is real cool. By the way, in your post....daughter is spelled daughter. Thanks for posting.

Here's a shot of my grandson with one of my newest acquisitions, a Pridelines Union Pacific M10000. Runs a little hard around the O-54 curves but it still looks great. At least the little guy let me keep this one, says it's too heavy for him! I'm planning on improving the lighting in this one with LEDs and a continous ground thru all the cars to help eliminate flicker and by adding a horn of some type, maybe a Williams Tru-Blast.

Great photos this week!
We've been really enjoying our recent acquisition which is our 'newest' Lionel steamer. Although from way back in 2003, it has good sounds and smoke. On the track behind is our Chicago Police helicopter ready to patrol
A right handsome rascal!

Steve-
Thanks, I corrected the spelling in my post. Unfortunately, I don't have an easy way to wire-up the lights on the trailer, so for now it's the non-lighted version... I'll admit I put a lot of thought into how much I wanted to run those wires, though!

My Friend on Youtube DaltonTk423 got a new Steam engine on Ebay. He got it in the awesome paint scheme. The pictures are not mine they are his. He sent them to my e-mail.

Dustin....Check out Evans Designs. They have some AC LED's that you could just wire up to your track to provide the voltage. If non-constant lighting bothers you get a small 12 volt DC supply (easily fit in the trailer or behind it) and then wire using track voltage. There is a circuit with a specific regulator that will follow the voltage to provide a constant DC supply. I believe it is an LM317 but am probably wrong. Much smarter members than me will fill in the "gaps" in my logic.quote:Originally posted by frizzinbee:quote:Dustin, I hope the trailer lights up, that is real cool. What make passenger cars are those? I'd like to get the New Haven version of Williams' J class and can only find New Haven cars that I'm not sure will be large enough.
I think Lionel made a Pullman expansion pack that came with three pullman cars like those and some other stuff to add on to one of their starter sets. They look just like the ones from my NYC expansion set (except mine say NYC on them ). They're just the standard O-27 plastic streamlined cars I think.

Jake is correct. I also have an expansion pack I purchased many years ago - a passenger pack in PRR lettering. I purchased an MTH Imperial K4 recently and use the 3 expansion pack cars behind it rather than the larger, more detailed Railking cars collecting dust under my layout. While I haven't priced expansion packs recently, nor do I have any need or interest in buying another one, I will say I think they are great products, a good value, and perfect for beginners and us experienced guys.

I agree. I run my NYC ones with my N&W Williams J class. They fit those old streamlined tender profiles almost perfectly. Wish I could get some in N&W (Williams.... are you paying attention? )

Alan Thank you. Alan has done another fine job on this model for us. I know your model will be another GREAT WORK FROM YOU. Alan you always do VERY NICE WORK.
I had thought about having smoke units in the power plant but mine will sit in a hard to get at area AND SO I DECIDED NOT TO GO DOWN THAT ROAD.
LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOUR POWER PLANT!!!!
