Great job on your pics Everyone !
Some may have seen my botched paint job in a previous post. I set to work putting it right this weekend. Although this is a PW size GG1 this photo gives the stretched illusion of a scale shell. Here the shell is prepared for it's coat of satin finish acrylic to seal the transfers and deepen the color.
And here it is all too glossy but definitely closer to the desired shade of green. Best of all is that this time the clear did not wrinkle the color coat.
Finally all buttoned up and ready to run. I've adding cab window detail to fill the gaping holes I made by cutting out the castings . I might leave it in brass to add a touch of flare.
I'll try to get better detailed pics in the light of day.

Excellent job Bruce!!
They're actually generic lettering transfers I sourced at my LHS. Since they carry nothing in "O", I had to search through their selection of HO decals and transfers. Even so, if you're familiar with GG1's, the lettering on a single stripe green engine were huge, with a giant keystone herald mid-ship. Authenticity wasn't a concern with this GG1
BTW, wonderful work so far on your layout. The engine facility should be a joy detailing.

Years ago a lady named Janice Bennett used to market some really nice 'rub-off' GG1 stripes and lettering for several of the PW G's. We have a restored 2332 that I still have the (uninstalled) kit for and may have a set of 2340 markings I believe they are.
I really need to sell that GG1 as it doesn't fit with anything in our roster today...
David....yeah but how the heck am I going to pay for the light bill..LOL!! Here is another picture giving a little more perspective...

Have you considered replacing the lights with LEDs? I did it this year with my 8 foot tree and watching the meter, you can't tell if it's on or not. A light on anywhere pulls more power. My tree has 400 led lights now. NOTE; the leds are spaced closer together than you will be used to. Buy an extra string or two of 100. The electricity saved the first day will pay for them.

Once again, My thanks for providing all of us with a wondrous thread to view each week. I always look for it on Monday after it's filled up. One of these days I'll have something worth including.
