Plastic tree is up and the train loop set-up around the tree.    I'm currently without a layout.   So this is it.    On this loop is my early 70's MPC Cannonball set.    Where the love for O gauge started for me, all those years ago!IMG_20181207_070742887

Looks familiar!

Walt,

Awesome old picture of your Cannonball set.    I'm planning a visit with my dad in a few weeks,   I hope to find some old photos with me and my trains from the mid 1970s.I

 Engine No. 999

Built at the West Albany yards of the New York Central Railroad in 1891, and the famous engine which drew the Empire State Express (beginning in 1891) for many years. In 1903 Engine 999 drew a train at a speed of 32 seconds for one mile, which stood as a record for ten years.

TONY FTW!!!   Love that place.

Yup, my favorite place to go. I usually spend most of my time yapping instead of looking at things. Took a while to get my Niagara because it was hiding. He had to get Krissy to come find it.

Going through my files and found this old map.

You can ride a bicycle from Pittsburgh, PA to Hagerstown MD and a bit further.  Connellsville, PA  is a transition from P&LE RR to Old western Maryland, Connellsville Extension RR.  Continental Divide, the small village of Deal.   All down hill to Washington DC or Baltimore.  C&O Canal Path trail is dirt, but a parallel Western Maryland bike trail, is paved.

Between Deal and Frostburg MD is the big Savage Tunnel.

Continental Divide.

Speaking for myself, Andy, that project deserves a thread to itself with updates, how you did it, products used, and vendors.  More work for you, for sure, but adds soooo much more value to your readers/viewers.  (If there is a thread for this project already, please accept my apology, and direct me to it.)
