Jim,

I believe you should know.

Didn't you work for PennDOT in the sign department?

Hope you are doing well.  I miss talking to you.

Best regards

The Train Pickin' Gods smiled on me this week as I was able to cross off two items from my "most wanted" list.

First, this 60' Berwick Hy Cube box car by Atlas in Conrail:

It dwarfs the Alco diesel:

Next to an MTH 50' Hy Cube:

I was beginning to think it was as ellusive as Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster. I even began to doubt whether MTH had really ever made any at all or were they just a myth? Then, late one night on eBay it appeared - the B&O GP30 Non Powered unit.  A complete set at last.

This Mother's Day I took my wife and mother-in-law to a Mother's Day Brunch.  It was at a restaurant called the Moonraker.  It is located at Rockaway Beach, in the town of Pacifica, California.  It's about a 20-minute drive from our house in Brisbane.  It was a great brunch.  The restaurant is located right on the Pacific Ocean!  Thought this wasn't gonna be about trains...didn't you!  Well...on the way back I spotted this caboose which was converted into a small coffee cafe.  A Coffee Caboose you might say!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL MOMS!

Matt

EMD Blomberg-style trucks on a steam engine.  Hmmmm......

Those trucks, while under a "steam" engine as well as the coaches, have provided years of reliable service. Some will be 50 years old next year and are all in like-new condition. No cracks or other defects which can often be seen after 50 years of service. Most, if not all, have been on the ground at one time over those years. Cruising along at 10 MPH with a top speed of 30MPH, they have provided many great years.

Got a PRR rs 11 from a pawn shop this weakend at a good price. some one did not pay off there loan.

Then found a PA state police car at a antique store

then I added a PRR truck under the bridge that my brother got me this year for my birthday.

To beat the Blomberg-trucks-on-a-steamer dead horse just a bit more (they bug

me, too - 50 years or not) - in my "Little NYC Hudsons" collection, the HO example

is a Marx (very well and properly-NYC proportioned, I might add, if a little shy around

the details) with a "12" wheel tender with Commonwealth...no, wait! The tender

trucks are Blombergs from a Marx HO diesel. Har!

Clever Marx; they look good at first glance, partly because the real Blombergs were

actually inspired by heavy tender trucks, I have read.

Marx: smoke and mirrors.

No Terry.   This is my dismantled layout up the mountain last year before we moved.

I really miss having a layout downstairs!

However, if you come visit the club layout you might recognize the backdrop....
