The National Capital Trackers show last week at B&O Museum gave me a chance to really run my K-Line B&O Pacific, purchased some time ago off the for sale forum. It was prototypically correct hauling a mixed passenger consist of lots of head end and heavyweight cars. Less prototypical, but still fun, was its run on the stack train.

It's November 1954 and Monon's "Thoroughbred" is visiting CONUS Lines.  In the first view, the lead F3 exits the east portal of Summit Tunnel.  In the second view, the "Thoroughbred" meets a westbound Milwaukee Road freight at McClelland.  In final view, off the mountain, the "Thoroughbred" accelerates through the curve leading to Georges Creek Junction.

Nice find, Howard and you did a very good build.

I picked up a Laura depot a couple of months ago. I'm probably going to label mine for Highland, CA even though the depot was Stucco (but it was close to the floor plan and dimensions). Might also pick up a #1 if one comes along on eBay. What paint did you use on yours?

I saw a building like this for sell. I thought I can do that. The Building is MTH I cut the second floor off. Added some Miller signs.  I think it turned out OK, The name is in memory of my Grandfather. He had a Bar when I was about 5. Something different for the layout always is nice to have.

Spent a little time today going through pictures from my old layout. These were a few of my favorites.

Matt - It happened that it was a lucky find.  I found it built and painted on ebay.  Because of my transition to 2 rail, I'm not doing too many kits.  I have more basic work to do.  The builder usually works in HO, but happened to build one in O scale.  I've admired the building for years.  I thought Rick Montague's build in the colors used after they dropped the green for trim was extremely well done.  My era is when Santa Fe still used green for the trim.

These were the colors used on my station.  "Depot has been Airbrushed painted in Santa Fe Colonial Yellow color with Bronze Green trim, White window trim with Venetian Red roof. All paints have been formulated to Santa Fe standards colors."

Both you and Rich mentioned the Laura station.  I went searching for it today, nice!  Built by Branchline, I didn't know it existed.

The Branchline Ellinor Tower is also an ATSF structure.  The overhang on the roof is a signature look for a Santa Fe wood tower.  It would look a lot better in the earlier yellow, green, red paint scheme.

Forum member Kanawha brought his custom-built Virginian caboose to the display last week. It was built by Brother Love and is a true masterpiece. After seeing these pics, I think you will all agree.

harleyhouse, Zeek13, and I saw the Thorn Creek United Methodist Church (Butler, PA) 6th annual train show.  No we weren't there together, we commented on another topic.

Very nice for a small rural church.  The trains are owned by the pastor Kurt Knoble.  Included are post war Lionel and American Flyer.  Modern Lionel and MTH.  There were 6 Ogauge loops, 1 S gauge loop, and a bumper trolley run.  Also, there were lots of Dept 56 buildings and some scratch built.

they had a nice separate display depicting scenes from the Biblical Christmas Story.

The holidays provided ample opportunity for photographing various trains on CONUS Lines.  Here is an eastbound CSX double stack train, led by ES44AC #953.  A CSX SD50 and UP ES44AC complete the motive power trio required to take the heavy train up the 2.1% grade to Armstrong.  In the first view, #953 departs Ellison.  The train passes the depot at Allen in the second view.  The final two images have the train approaching Georges Creek Junction (that a Bakkan oil shale train westbound trailing a NS caboose clearing the Junction) and passing the tower at the Junction.

I had a busy weekend, and took lots of photos of the layout which I'll post as time allows.  Here's another similar to my earlier photo of the Lionel Shark, but this is looking in the opposite directions.  Here, an ABBA set of MTH F-7's head eastbound through Duncannon as they approach the home signal at View interlocking.

Testing out our new addition - a scale Polar Express Berkshire and cars and figuring out what all the buttons on the cab 1L remote do.  This is my first steam engine as well as first experience with Lionel's legacy system.  Let me tell you this thing is flipping sweet!

The other picture is what my wife got me for Christmas - always wanted something Montana Raillink.
