Sorry about being late and I’ll post a video a little later. Let’s see you tinplate!

While their competitor JEP made a large number of different type of postal vans in 0 gauge, Hornby France only made one type. This 4-wheel van is however very nice with its bright lithography. It was made between 1935 and 1940 not reappearing after WW2. It is considered by many (including me) the nicest Hornby France product:
I have made an e-book on mail cars or postal vans which can be seen and downloaded here: http://sncf231e.nl/tporpo/

Got the old MTH 9E down off the shelf...deader than a doornail (no fault of MTH, it's been sitting up there for six or seven years). New battery and a reset and it's good as new:
Tree goes up tomorrow and this is going under it with a few 500-series freights.

Many years ago i bought in USA a nice set of 18 19 and 190 Lionel passenger cars. They have been varnished to protect the paint from flacking and the couplers have been replaced with box couplers from 1940 period. Now i have replaced them with repro ones, and with a repro lighting unit from Jo Mania it will be a nice set to run with the 42 loco. Those cars are really an icon of Lionel production.
Have a nice tinplate weekend, Daniel

Last weekend I was able to get back to the museum with the missing pieces of track to complete the inner loop. This is the display as it looks when you enter the railroad library portion of the museum.
What I noticed immediately was that there was a train sitting on static display on the inner incomplete loop.
I bet you already identified what it is.
Yes indeed. Its a Lionel Girl's Train. But it isn't mine. It belongs to the family of one of the Museum Board Members. It is an original from 1957 (celebrating the 60th anniversary of one of the most successful colossal failures in toy train history). I looked it over pretty well and it appears to be in Like New Condition. I found out that the family also has all of the original boxes, the set box and all of the other peripherals.
Once I finished the inner loop we applied the power from my 12B American Flyer transformer, and it performed flawlessly. I guess you never know when a real treasure will pop up.
Highly desired collectible or not; somehow the pink just doesn't look right to me. However I posted some photos on Facebook and got a large number of likes and comments from adult women who love it and would love to have one. I guess it was just 60 years ahead of its time.

I am famously - at least on this forum - NOT a fan of ANY pink engine! But I do recognize "different strokes for different folks"! :-)
I am pleased to report that I have made a major change in my Hornby Dublo layout after more than 20 years of loyal service. I sold my plastic 5083 Terminal and 5085 Suburban stations to a good friend and replaced them with Kibri TINPLATE. Here are some before and after shots. You might note that I can now switch freights and passenger trains easily on the 3R inner main line and sidings. What fun!!!

great stuff guys.
I could use that girls train. Likes from adult women have been hard to come by lately. That does look like a beauty. Very nice.

The BCR does not need to be pre-charched before installing, just a 30-50 second charge when you power up the engine.

Looks like a remake of the girl's set I think in the 1990's. The original was a 2037 engine.
A couple of weeks ago I posted a picture of a 121 station that I got at a train show. It looked a lot better in the picture than it actually was. It had been partially repainted with a brush and close up looked terrible. That was fine though as I wanted a traditional Boston And Maine station. As you can see in the second photo my B&M station is coming together nicely and should be done next week when I get the replacement chimneys and a door. This one reminds me of the station in my hometown, Beverly MA with the lower part of the brick being a dark color and the upper being a lighter color. I'll post more once it's completely reassembled and I get the BEVERLY sign made.

Thanks Frank. I thought the set was in exceptionally good shape. That's what happens when a Flyer guy tries to talk about Lionel.
