i am purchasing a westsider heisler. Always wanted one as it's such a unique engine. I plan on re motoring, adding djc and likely a new gear box. Both sets of trucks are included.
Actually have one of these for a logging adventure that has yet to come into full fruition. All mine needed was a new bit of tubing in the drive line; old motor and gear box work fine. Not planning on using it for more a handful of cars at any given moment so re-motoring, etc. is not high on my list of activities.
I've rebuilt a few and added quite a few parts from PSC to improve the looks. The factory drive really leaves a lot to be desired. It can be made into a credible West Side #3
My biggest issue was the model being built to 1/43 instead of 1/48. The fact is, it's way too big. It may not be that noticeable until you place it in the vicinity of an accurate model.
i was not aware of this. I am sure it will run a significant premium to the westside. I have a overland willamette nearly ready for the tracks and a sunset shay in repair. Those will cover my logging needs.
Years ago, Mallory Hope Farrell (sic?) did a great article on detailing and fixing the out of scale issues with this model. I don't remember for sure, but it may have been in NG&SLG.
