Our Hi-Rail group the Pittsburgh Independent Hi-Railers replaced our 4 Z4000s with one new ZWL. We are able to power all 4 main lines with it. The Z4000s worked fine but it sure is nice to only transport one transformer to the shows. I am using mine as a backup ( just in case) and wanted a way to transport it and this is what I came up with. Several member worked with me to build it on one our Tues night work sessions.

Very nicely done !!!!!!

Fantastic arrangement with the connectors on the back, etc.. You certainly have reduced the items you have to take to shows, that's for sure!
That is one thing Lionel should have done is put the Banana plugs on the back and done away with the Thumb Nuts.
If you put some wheels on it it would remind me of this WWII "Anlasswagen" (aka Aussenstromaggregat) or Auxiliary Power Unit:

With wheels it would be a lot easier to "cart" around
I like it. Nice job.
That's a pretty cool way to store and transport a transformer. Well done!

Very, very clever! Wow. Great thinking!!! THANKS for posting!
I'm also replacing two Z-4000s with my new ZW-L. The looks, the feel, the power = all outstanding.
Very nice indeed. That is an excellent transportation box. Is it available in polished mahogany with brass corners?
Very Nice. Excellent design. IMO. Eliminated wear and tear on the Transformer.
Thank you for posting. You might consider changing the base so that it can be C-clamped to the side of one of the modules.
We did this small shelf a few years ago that works well with a Z4000 and TIU.

NICE! Gives me some Ideas for My Transformers! Do you have any pics on building the box? Where did you get the stereo Bananna Plug receptacles?
I built it the same size as the box it came in. The banana receptacles came from Radio Shack. Used 12 gauge wire, sorry no other pictures.
Masy I ask what kind of wood did you use?
1x12 Pine. Built it in about 2 hours. I finished it at home. Stain and wireing
We build many things at our work sessions. The next thing I am doing in another shelf for engines . 4x7. Going to get the wood today.
Nicole- It can be made that way but I wanted to keep cost down.LOL
sweet !
