i recently got some sitting people to put in some passenger cars interiors so they do not look empty. So what kind of glue do you suggest? Hot glue or ?

I always use Goop. Wonderful stuff. All purpose, flexible, removable (if necessary) and sticks to just about everything.

Definitely something flexible, otherwise the brittle glue allows the peeps to just pop outta their seats. I use a clear, flexible, paintable epoxy from Michaels & Home Depot.. called E6000 and comes with a tip for fine applications.
If you use something that dries hard and brittle, and then your cars derail, and hit with a good jolt, those people will pop right out of their seats. Then you have to open the car up again to re-glue. Do it once, and be done with it. Why open those cars up multiple times?
Duco cement
I use a contact cement. The people are mostly hidden, so about any glue works and super neatness is not necessary.
I use Walther GOO, or Dupont Contact Cement.
I just put a little on their rumps and put them on the seat.
I agree with Lee, can't go wrong with Duco Cement.
I used tacky glue.

I used tacky glue.

Agree. Aileen's Tacky Glue....gold soft bottle...craft stores, et al.

Has anyone used the 3M sticky stuff? This would be easily removable, and would not leave residue on the seats.

I use clear silicone, myself. It holds well, but you can remove and move the figures later, if you change your mind.
I use Formula 560 Canopy glue for a permanent bond to plastic. The stuff works great, dries clear, has a strong bond and has no odor. Been using it for a few years and would not use anything else now.

I'll second that. It takes a while to set up, but it holds well and can be easily removed later, if necessary.
Rubber cement. Holds, yet easily removed.
I third clear silicone. Can by a small tube and it goes a long way or buy a huge tube and fix cracks in you house and figures in passenger cars!
Model clear glue...perfect...one drop...done.
Duco cement, a little dab on each fanny and let them set up over night
I always use "GOOP" by Walthers!

I have recently been using those "sticky dot" thinks from Michaels.
I used the hot glue gun to put the K-Line sitting people in the K-Line passenger cars for the SF war bonnet train. Choo Choo Kenny
I use silicone if I don't want the pax removable. If I want to be able to remove the people, I use some kind of non-hardening putty. The stuff you used to put up posters in your dorm room in college is still around and it works fine. I also use a product called "museum putty" that I get at Ace Hardware. I've also used sticky dots but I prefer putty.
Contact cement here. Walthers Goo or Pliobond. 15 seconds after sitting them down they are there for the duration.

Glue Dots, the same as Hot Water above.
Stick it on their butt and they stay in the seat. They are clear.
I use the ACE hardware version of "Fun tack," haven't had a passenger change seats for 5 years and counting :-)
loctite "power grab" works well, toothpaste consistensy with great initial tack. dries clear and cleans up with water. also easy removal of people when needed.
Hot glue gun.
Captaincog, no telling how many DHS computers you lit up with the thread's title: really, gluing people to their seats--who else talks like that? Give yourself plenty of time to clear security the next time you fly commercial, and where clean clothes where it counts.
Aleene's Clear Gel Tacky Glue works for me.
I like hot glue and hot glue gun. Small amounts, the reason why, if you want to change the position of a figure, use a hobby knife and just cut the glue and peel off to move figure.
This is the procedure that works out on my layout. Good Luck.

I whole heartedly agree with TR Gary, I use an ACE hot glue gun and heavy dury hot glue. It works great and easy to remove and peel to move the figure around. Unfortunately, inmy cars I had to remove most of the legs, but you can't tell from the outside. This makes it easier to set them so some are looking out the window and some are talking to the person next to them.
Thanks,
Mario
Jeff,
I use the clear LOCTITE Super Glue or the Duco Cement the Duco Cement use to be the best, now the LOCTITE Super Glue has it beat.

I've used "museum wax" and the people are still standing or sitting after 8 years and a move and transporting to a Christmas display. Have repositioned people with no issues. Any brand of museum wax will work.
Good luck
Elmer's Glue Spots work great.

I was thinking along the same line as Pingman........I thought here was someone suggesting getting on The Washington DC Metro and glueing unruly passengers to their seats! My oh my! But it would probably please WC Fields on how to deal with unruly children.
