I first saw "The Day The Earth Stood Still" as a kid in the 1950's, this scifi is still my favorite.

Yes, great flick. And let's not forget there is a model train scene. The kid has one of those roll-out numbers on casters that he keeps under his bed. A 1033 transformer if I recall correctly.
Btw Gort is a wind up and it does walk pretty well. It is about twenty years old. And yes I do remember see the movie in theater all those years ago and I watch it anytime it is on. I also may have the video if I remember correctly. A great film.
