Hey, I have one of those old photos too!

scrapiron.....looks like a Lafayette/Ethan Allan class "boomer" to me. Boy you guys lived the life of luxury....all that space. I served on Thresher class and Sturgeon class fast attack boats. Small but deadly.

You're one of those crazy guys! Eek Big Grin

I marvel when they do tree work at my place, they're up 50-60 feet in the giant pines. I had one last year up one that had pulled out of the ground and was leaning, he went up there anyway. He did have a safety line to the next tree, but it still looked plenty dangerous!

Be careful out there! Wink

Don't know about all that space, Tex. My first job on the boat was scraping and painting the welds in the after trim tank. Then they promoted me to cleaning and painting the bilges. That's what two years of nuclear power training qualified me to do! (OBTW, it was the USS Lafayette.)

Obviously, that photo was taken a few years ago. Here's one of my family (I'm the slim, trim fellow on the left).

Yep, I remember that nonsense too. I spent 2 full years in Navy schools learning electronics, radar, and weapon systems before going to the fleet only to spend a great deal of time mess cranking, painting and scraping decks, and fixures that were not even in my weapon spaces for the following 4 years. It didn't matter whether or not the weapon system was at full readiness or not, it just had to look good! Between that and the young punk know nothing officers, it was enough to make SURE I never wanted to re-enlist. Sad that the military spends all that money and time training people and then wastes it. They wonder WHY retention is so bad?

If you see me on the road. This is my "Get out of the left lane, you jerk!" look.

If you see me sleeveless, my S-1 tattoo may grab Pennsy fans' attention. It's actually published in a book of tattoo art. No residuals, though!

Guy

That is a awesome s1

Greetings all from San Antonio, TX. Two pics attached...one from work several years ago (Baghdad) and one more recently at home enjoying the most relaxing hobby ever. I was able to pull the boy from the X-Box for a little while. Small victories...although I am the one who got him into X-Box years ago   -Len

Well here I am with the kids. Seasonal layoff from being a truckdriver/heavy equipment operator at a tree recycling/topsoil company, has me spending more time than usual here on the forum and of course in the train room.
