Will MTH PS2 Operate on a Lionel Legacy System?

Hey guys - I have a question. Currently, I have a Lionel ZW-L and Lionel Legacy Cab2 system. All of my locos are either TMCC, Legacy, or Williams conventional. I have my eye on an MTH ABA Diesel set with Protosound 2.

Can I operate the MTH on my layout? Obviously, Legacy will not control it. But under conventional operation, will I be able to get the Protosound working and be able to control the engine in forward and reverse?

Yes, under conventional operation. No problem at all. ProtoSound 2 and 3 will work just fine. All you'll be missing are some of the extra PS2/3 features.
