Greetings.

Over a couple of months ago I picked up a Williams Cab Forward with TMCC that won't run/move. Sounds, coupler, and lights work but it wont' budge. I don't know a lot about the electronics but willing to try.  I met a nice Lionel rep Mike Reagan at the Ontario train show last weekend and he checked out the bottom of the tender and said it has the ElectricRR components.  Another O gauge owner placed it on his track and reprogrammed but it still didn't run.

Help please?

I bought it that way for a song, but I ain't singing anymore ;-)  I believe I saw the R2LC board with an 07.  I think I read they weren't too good??

Its never ran.

The sounds do come on upon command from the cab-1 remote.

There's only 1 switch on the bottom of the tender.  It was the direction control but now the program button.

I'm not sure of the 4 pin connection.  Is that the same as the connector from the tender to the engine? Also there was a single wire from the tender that plugged into another wire on the engine.  Would you happen to have any diagrams?

Yes, the antenna is hooked up the the shell of the tender with black tape and plastic screws to insulate.

I appreciate your help.

James

If no broken/unsecured wires are obvious, get a Lionel Tech to throw your R2 board on his tester.  If you have another R2LC board, give it a try.

Your problem might not be board.  Open the locomotive up and check for the wires being connected to the motor.  If someone let that locomotive go for a song, they screwed something up or could not see and find an easy problem.  I love to find deals like you did.

I have posted this before, but might be of help.  I have a GG1 with ERR TMCC.  The trick to making it work is the address process.  My other TMCC engines all are addressed as (power up track and command base, ) key in engine#, hit boost, but the GG1 requires Engine#, Aux1, to run. Also, when running, at end of session, stop engine, wait about a minute for sound to drop to idle, press Aux1, 5.  You will get a short announcement, (don't know what it says, I am deaf). After the announcement the sounds will shut down. Usually, on power up, sounds are restarted, but if not, Aux1 3 will restart sounds.   Hope this is your easy fix!
