Hi...

I am setting up a power supply set as described above (Lionel 6-32930).  I am using it to power 2 separate layouts...1 conventional and 1 command control.  I am using the Cab1L system (Lionel 6-37147O) to run these layouts.  The problem I'm having is, what I will call a ghost signal.  If I run the conventional layout by itself...all is well.  If I run the TMCC layout by itself...that is fine.  BUT...I try and run them together...the TMCC signal picks up both tracks...if I blow the horn...it blows on both tracks...if I slow the engine it slows both tracks...all the engines on the TMCC track are on with out me calling for them (however they do not power forward until I call for them).  Any feed back is appreciated.  I've not found this problem on any trouble shooting list.

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm...

grounding the TMCC layout outside rails would short out the TMCC signal. So that’s not good. If you connect the conventional outside rails to ground, you’ll be connecting them to the source of the airborne TMCC signal to the rails. Not sure what that would accomplish. I don’t see any clear reason to do that.

You don't want to ground the tracks, then you'll kill the TMCC signal everywhere!

What you really need is a low pass filter to kill the 455khz going to the second layout and not affect the first layout.  What you really need is two transformers.

I stand corrected. I thought he might have a ground plane issue and by grounding the track that would eliminate it. Sorry for the bad advice.

Why does the conventional stuff worry about TMCC signals?

I was assuming the conventional engines were also TMCC and they picked up enough signal to respond to the TMCC cab. My TMCC engines run TMCC when on different transformers and on track not even connected to TMCC track if it’s on.
