After reading the ZW-L instruction manual I have a few questions:

The manual was written in 2/13 prior to the introduction of the CAB-1L so the only references are for Legacy CAB-2 990 or the original CAB-1.  According to the instructions on page 19 prior to using the Legacy remote you need to set the device type, control mode and assign a unique ID# to each output must be set.

So, with the CAB-1L how do you do that with the exception of setting the ID#.

The ZW-L manual has brief information on page 24 about running Non-Lionel locomotives with the CAB-2/CAB-1 remote.  Is this for operating MTH proto 2-3 engines and if so what are the procedures to do that.

Frankly in a lot of the instruction manuals produced after the CAB-1L was available there is a brief reference to the ability to use it with various engines but very little specific instructions on how to do that.

I recently read the instruction manual that came with the new Lionchief Plus 2.0 0-6-0T engine and while it does say you can control the engine with a CAB1-L there are no specific instructions on how to do that.

I wish that Lionel took the time to update the ZW-L manual or at least have updated instructions on line.

At the same time they should also update the CAB-1L manual as well.

More questions.

Are the four built in powermasters Legacy powermasters.  If so would it be worthwhile to get the instruction manual from them.  It might answer some questions about controlling non-Lionel engines.

Also, there have been a number of views but no answers.  Is this post in the wrong place.  I’m I the only one on the forum that owns a ZW-L or am I the only one who has questions.

And yes I’ve watched the Regan video several times and also read the instruction manual.

The ZW-L manual should cover everything you’d ever want to know about that transformer. It’s been a while since I perused it though. As far as the cab-1L it operates just as the the original Cab-1 with the exception that it can address TR numbers from 1-99. Just as in mikes video to set the TMCC ID choose the ID for Handle A and the rest will follow. For example set Switches on the back to ch-4 and to PRG and CMD

turn on command base

turn on ZW-L

press TR10 then press SET

turn off the ZW-L

flip switch back to RUN

A is now TR 10

B is now TR 11

C is now TR 12

D is now TR 13
