I'm addicted to box cars and hoppers. Nuff said!!
My name is Matt and I'm a "Hopper Head." It started with ACF covered hoppers, then spread to PS2's, Airslides, and PS4400 series. I also suffered from "Reefer Madness" for a while and the occasional box car binge.
Box cars and wood-sided reefers are my favorites. Matt
2 bay and 3 bay coal hoppers are my favorite.

The repainted tank cars look just like I remember from the fifties.
They look a lot more realistic than the ones available these days.
Thanks Charlie. I looked at some old photos on line of steam era tankers and found they were built for specific industries and mostly oil as far as the photos I found. I printed out the data and number markings with white lettering on black back ground and glued them on the cars. The edges are not too noticeable if you squint a bit. I enjoyed the project and found the cars quite resonable on the "bay".
I am hooked on Gondola's I really like the die cast ones from K-line and Lionel.
I enjoy making the floorboard loads for them that I can keep changing at will.
Casey - Can you tell me about the cable reels you have pictured - the bottom right corner please?
Yes Scott, I am sorry I was away this weekend and did not see your request.
The black and silver reels were made by K=line, the black ones are the older version. I took one of the silver ones and cut it in half just to create something different, and the large reel in the middle I found at a train meet and is from an American flyer flatcar load with a PRR decal. If you can check my older posts from about one year ago I explained how I make my floorboard loads and what I use to mount the pieces.
Hope This Helps. Casey
I like extremes. At one end, I am attracted to four-wheel industrial cars such as ingot buggies, ore dump cars, and logging disconnects. At the other end, I like the gargantuan Schnabel cars.
I also like anything 19th century, European, or Japanese.

Ingot buggies? Yes!!!

I like Pecos River 40' and 50' boxcars. I picked up a bunch of them during the early years of the century at York. These are mostly from western railroads and nicely balance out my small fleet of Pennsy X-29s.
