Bell and Horn -no sound | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have a late SD40T locomotive which has developed horn and bell problems in that they rarely work. All other operational features and sounds are fine. Any ideas as to what is wrong. I use TMCC and DCS on my layout.

Are you using a TMCC cab 1 remote to operate it? If so the contacts under the buttons may be dirty.

The easiest way to check is to press the buttons and listen for the faint beep on the remote or see if the lights on the base are flashing when you press them.

There are threads if you search on how to open a cab 1 and clean the button contacts.

I have two cab 1`s and the horn and bell buttons work on all other legacy and Tmcc locomotives. I am completely stumpted by the problem, because all other features work well.
