    Hello everyone,

I purchased this coaling tower from a very nice fellow forum member, for the purpose of remodeling it for another fellow forum member. I had a great time working on this project, still some more too do on it. Like railings, trim, lift chains and pulleys.

I changed quite a few things on this tower

Cut out old windows, and installed larger one's.

Changed all the trim around the structure, beefed it up a bit

Changed all bottom supports.

Changed the coal chutes, to more realistic one's

Changed all roof's

Added full interior and exterior lighting, total of 11 lights

Changed second story ladder,to a full staircase. Also added platforms with supports

Changed upper door, to a much more realistic door.

A complete paint job.

Here's a ton of photo's from beginning to end,

thanks for looking,

Alex

Hello Alex:

Glad you were the one who purchased my late father-in-law's coaling towers.

He only made 4 of them.

You did a really nice upgrade on the original structure.

I am sure he would appreciate your work.

Here is one of his G gauge structures...yes that is real snow. The CNJ caboose and GP-7 are also scratchbuilt by him...Mickey Fedorochko.

I still have his O gauge icing station and platform. In the 2 years before he passed, he was starting to built tugboats and railroad car floats. I still have an uncompleted railroad passenger ferry. His other structures are used each year on my family's Christmas train layout.

Enjoy the tower.

I thank you all the the beautiful comments, it's very much appreciated.

This type of building comes fairly easy to me, because my background was in

home carpentry and electrical. But I must thank ALL the fantastic model builders on this

forum, because I learned a lot from them. Before I joined this forum I looked in from the outside for quite a while, and I payed close attention to all these model masters.

The same goes for the awesome engine repair and upgrade forum members.

Once again I payed close attention too these masters. I also realize, I can learn something new everyday.

If anyone is interested in a coaling tower, I'm going to be making some in the future

I also have a two track tower at the moment, that I will be upgrading.

Thanks again to all,

Alex
