I have recently purchased (1) (6-38960) PRR 8102 Powered, (2) (6-38961) PRR 8146 Powered (only picked up one right now the other is on hold) and (1) (6-38962)  PRR 8148 Non Powered.

Initially the 1st one powered up and ran was the 8102, it ran great on Wednesday Night and could not wait til Friday to pick up one of the 8146's.

Today try and fire up the 8146 to get it ready for our show and when powering up was making a noise but stopped and was able to program the engine number into the CAB-2. However after running just back and forth about 20 feet I start getting the Flashing Cab Light displaying in a sequence of 3. That says Fan Motor, but the noise came back and decided that the two issues warranted re-boxing and will take back to the LHS and see where it goes from there.

Next, I am running the 8102 and occasionally I am getting a Single Flashing Cab Light. Motor? Sensing? I wanted to switch between the diesel and my PRR Legacy Mikado in running the coal cars up to the Coal Tipple. I am not sure if it is the track but also noticed if I rock the engine to the side it would lose power. And it appeared to have power problems passing certain areas of the track by losing power. Could this be that I do not have all of the collectors providing power to the Engine?

Since, I am taking the 1846 back to the LHS, I will let them look at the 8102 also.

I then had to run my PRR Legacy Mikado (6-11257). I just picked this up thru the OGR Forums late Feb used and it overall it is a very nice running engine. It does have two quirks, one that I think a issue with the track. As when backing thru a Certain Ross Switch at the club it will derail occasionally. So, I am not overly concerned but does this engine have a sound issue? Even with the Potientiometer in the Tender Cranked Up Full and the CAB-2 Audio cranked up also, it is hard to hear and I would estimate half as loud as the ES44AC.

My PRR Mikado Jr. (6-11100) that i picked up from the Lionel Open House in Aug crapped out no Power to the engine put tender sound OK. This happened after I had the engine upside down and was cleaning the drivers and was going to replace the traction tires I just purchased from Lionel. This my LHS will be looking at as I doubt that the engine still has a 1 Yr Warranty for a used engine even if it was purchased during the Open House.

So, today and the last few weeks has me a little depressed as it looks like a couple new engines may be heading back to Lionel and the other two will probably have to to be addressed via a repair from the LHS and not sure what it will cost to get them up and running.

Luckily, the show season is over until the Fall (October) so no need to worry about having the engines ready right away and can't run most of them at home as my home layout (not finished) is dealing with O36 Max Fastrack.

Oh well, will call the LHS and see if I can drop them off Tuesday Night on the way home.........

(Ben and Vinnie are probably laughing at me for staying with Lionel and not getting some MTH Engines but I have refrained from going there as I am hoping that the issues can be addressed and I will remain happy) As it is I have two Lionel RTR Sets and have the two PRR Lion Chief Plus Engines on advance order, and was looking forward to buying something from the new catalog tomorrow.
