I have an old Lionel 22.5* tinplate crossover on my layout.  Unfortunately the outside rails are attached to a steel base making it unusable in my signal system, ie train wheels have to short the outside rails to give a signal occupancy indication, but the steel base of course defeats this.  Ross makes a 22.5* crossover but its not tinplate, though I understand there maybe Ross track to O gauge adapter pins available.  The Ross site does not show how its crossover  outside rails are connected (all shorted together or separate).

Anyone using this and can help?

I haven't dealt with a 22.5° crossover, but I once solved a similar problem with a 90° crossing with a stamped steel base.  Before I go into it, would you please let us know the Catalog No. of this item or, better, post a picture (both top and bottom)?  I'm not sure I understand what you're working with.
