263e E-unit part number

I have a 263e on my workbench that has been significantly restored/messed with. At some point in the past it had its E-Unit replaced with the wrong type, and to fit it in the lever was removed and switching for the E-Unit power is handled by the switch on the backhead that used to control the chuffer.

I am trying to find the correct E-Unit to put back in. Based on pictures of similar locomotives and comparing those to pictures of E-Units I think it needs a 100-8 E-Unit. Olsen's doesn't list the E-unit number, or I'm using the archive incorrectly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

According to my copy of Olsen's CD, the prewar 263E uses a 260E-72 E unit (complete assembly).

Thank you! Using that I was able to search online and I found another forum that gave a cross-reference list for E-units. It looks like a 100-8, 100-11, or 2332M-10 will fit right in, the only difference being wire length.

The switch on the brush plate is used to turn the e unit on and off. The 763 e unit has no lever on it. If you use one of the 100 series e units I think you will be disappointed. The buzz like crazy and the 763 did not buzz.

Can you clarify? I’m not sure what you mean by the switch on the brush plate.
