Every day features western roads on my layout. I call it "The Centennial State Railroad". Recently, I picked up this beautiful Railking Union Pacific steam engine (30-1139-1) It runs flawlessly, and looks nearly new. Here are two different angles for you.
Well not too exciting but in line with our theme...here is a Lionel 6464 Western Pacific boxcar in tow by a USAF "Beep" !
Happy Wednesday ... Sunny but quite cold 40 deg here in Central Texas today

Happy Wednesday y’all. Here is a clip of my Union Pacific gas turbine on the layout. The PRR was trialing it, hence the PRR cabin car at the rear.

Hey Johnathan- I must admit I had never heard of the "St.Louis Southwestern", it that a prototype railroad? Great colorful livery for sure. Plus it has those somewhat rounded corner "American Flyer" type windows. NEAT!

Well here is a Kline Union Pacific MP-15 moving some freight out of the wharf/Industrial area and on up the line to its destination. The UP is not a normal visitor to the rails of the Leonardtown and Savannah but this is leased power that management is using to gain experience with the type. They have negotiated with Kennecott Copper for one of their MP-15 locomotives and so far it is working out quite well. Although larger than the normal type diesels L&S uses in this area the MP-15 seems able to handle the tight clearances and sharp curves.
Best Wishes, hope your week is going well...Don

Don,
Not sure how I missed this! St. Louis Southwestern more commonly goes by the name of Cotton Belt. St. Louis Southwestern is the official name. All part of Union Pacific now, but it became a subsidiary of the Southern Pacific in the 1930's which is why you will see some common cars, locomotives, and specifically paint schemes like the Daylight scheme on the lone Cotton Belt PA and FP7 as well as the Black Widow scheme on several diesel locomotives.
Totally separate topic, but a most western road and one I get to every few years to photograph.

@GG1 4877 Johnathan - How embarrassing!! The "Cotton Belt" went right past the area where we now live in Texas. In fact one of the main roads passing the housing area I live in is called "Cotton Belt Parkway". I just never realized that the official name was St. Louis Southwestern. Thanks for the information, I won't forget that again!!
Best Wishes, Don

Don, I have one of those too. The handle on one side of the ladder on the tender was snapped off when I got it. For years I pondered on how to repair it without ever undertaking the actual repair. Well I recently won an eBay auction for replacement tender shell in the GN green paint scheme.
@coach joe - Hey Mate! Glad you finally got a way to fix that tender. Thanks for responding, its good to know that I am not alone in operating these Lionel small steamers. Great to hear!!

Well even I "forgot" about poor Wednesday so here is an input a day late just to keep this thread going. This is a Marx KCS FM unit ...AB as was common for this unit although there are dummy A's to be found (not common) I hope that Kansas City qualifies as "western" enough...this was a quick selection before I started work. Best Wishes... Don

Well here I go again trying to keep our W.R.W. thread going. In that pursuit, here is the Lionel (MPC) #9723 Western Pacific boxcar from the 1973-74 Service Station Special set for your review.
