Here is my Post War Super ”O” 2291W set on my Super O 48 Club layout that I received for my first Christmas in 1958. The 2379 Rio Grande F3AB is a beauty along with its 3 operating cars. It really is the Dream Liner of the Western Roads, as advertised.

An O gauge SP intermodal train.
A G gauge UP Challenger leads a passenger train.
A G gauge South Pacific Coast 4th of July special passenger train is shown below. The South Pacific Coast was a narrow gauge railroad that was built from my hometown, Alameda, CA, on San Francisco Bay to Santa Cruz, CA on the Pacific Coast. There were, and still are, huge forests of redwood trees in the coastal mountains surrounding Santa Cruz. The railroad was built to haul lumber from the forest to San Francisco Bay.
The South Pacific Coast was taken over by the Central Pacific Railroad (eventually Southern Pacific) in the late 1800s and converted to standard gauge. Portions of the South Pacific Coast route are operated today by the Union Pacific.

Some of the Enchanted Forest residents are waiting for the train.

Hi everyone...here it is "hump" day...Wednesday already. My week is traveling fast...so today I thought I would post a pretty simple Lionel outfit but it does represent the Denver and Rio Grande.
The engine is a Lionel #8903 made by Lionel MPC from 1979-81. The caboose, #9007, was first made somewhat earlier, 1976 but was available until 1983 and then from 1984-91 as an uncatalogued car. This was part of a set called..."Black River" freight.
Happy Wednesday everyone... remember only 2 more days till Friday!

Some Southern Pacific action today, as the SP is using some trackage rights over the ATSF.
Here's a photo of WP 485 GS-66-77 pulling TideWater Southern, Sacramento Northern, and WP P.F.E. with caboose. Working on video, try and post tonight.

I think your right Artie. Hope he don’t get caught. That’s a nice pic too.
Here's a photo of all the Legacy "Western Railroads" that Union Pacific Merged/Purchased over the years, all in one photo. Obviously, these are the real SD70Ace locomotives posing! I meant to post this yesterday!

Well everyone, here it is a Wednesday again...celebrating the middle of the week with great pictures and trains. What could be better ! Here is my contribution today. A relatively early MPC Lionel boxcar from 1974. It is the #9713 Western Pacific boxcar with the silver feather. I was unpacking some storage cases yesterday and came upon this fellow, safely tucked away likely for several years. He is colorful and comes from the early years of Lionel licensing its train production.
Here is the full side view.
Here is a slight quarter view, giving a better look at the WP herald.
Here is the famous WP "feather" this time in silver.
Best wishes for Wednesday! Have a good week.
