Hello Guys,
Got a question for those who have this particular car.
Does the 9278 Lifesavers Tank Car have a black sheet-metal frame (like stated in an article recently in CTT Feb '17 Issue), or a black plastic frame just between the tank and trucks?
I looked at several photos of it online and it looks like plastic to me.
Can someone clarify?

It is metal, not plastic.
Mine has a plastic frame, just like other similar cars. The metal frame is actually the platform up top.
Just pulled mine out - the frame is definitely plastic.
That's interesting. One says metal, two say plastic.

as far as I know, all the single dome tank cars have a plastic frame.
I have two of them here in the office, and both of them have plastic frames and metal platforms on the single dome.
I have seen several more examples and they all were the same, which leads me to believe there were no variations in frames or platforms for these Lifesavers tank cars.

The original postwar Lionel 6315 chemical tank car (1956), on which the Modern era single dome tank cars are based, had a plastic frame.
How does it run on the track if you don't take it out of the box?
