Madmax, the traditional open-frame, AC, Build-a-loco type motors are not compatible with command control like PS2 or 3. You would have to swap the motor out for a "proto-drive" unit. They come up for sale sometimes; there is one for sale now here; it is advertised as a "build-a-loco", but it's not, it is the MTH can motor proto-drive. It says it came out of an MTH Lionel 400, not sure how it would fit in the Ives frame, I think MTH changed the Ives frames so they are all compatible, but I'm not sure about that. Then, you would have to get the PS3 boards to install, and an appropriate sound file for the electric 3245. Don't want to discourage you, but I'd think 3 or 4 times before heading down that road.

For others looking, I put PS3 into an old MTH Allegheny. I believe it came out in the late 90's?
It does have a can motor though.
You can put command in using that motor, the ERR AC Commander will drive it without swapping motors.
