fellas.  I am interested in making the realtrax more reliable.  using solid rail only,  sometimes those pieces at factory loose the juice from the spot welded tabs.  I thought to make this good for permanent use, I would Solder the Rail together, spot solder on each section to make a direct good connection.  I would sand the spots down to make it look like its a welded rail.  and weather the track then.    anybody do this and does the soldering iron and using the low melt solder stay.    my idea is to put all the track down, screw down and then do the soldering so its sound and firm in place.

thanks Chris

I have done it and bridged the gap with a piece of wire. It does work and I use this to fix bad spots on the layout. I actually soldered the tabs together underneath the track in large sections to increase reliability and DCS signal strength and it worked quite well but if you ever have to get them apart it can be a chore.
