Can you use just the power block (Z1000) to power the TIU without the controller? If so, could you describe how to set this up. I would like to run both Protosound 2 & 3 engines as well as conventional engines. Thanks.

The easy and simple way is to purchase the TIU Barrel adapter cable (MTH Part 50-1017) and use it to connect your Z1000 to FIXED input 1. This will provide power to the TIU and FIXED output1 on the TIU to operate your PS2 & PS3 trains.

I see that you also want to run Conventional. Use a pair of jumper Wires and connect FIXED Input 1 to VAR input 1. Now connect your track to VAR output 1. You can run conventional as well as PS2 & PS3 on that output. Just make sure to dial the voltage up to max when running PS2 or PS3 engines.
