I had two previous posts on my new WBB RS3. First post was on WBB's decision to make the short hood direction forward and the second post on roller spacing. On my other WBB diesels the roller spacing is 6.5 and 7.5 inches making for smooth trouble free running around my layout. On the RS3, the stock roller spacing is 8.5 inches. A perfect match for the unpowered rails on my back to back Atlas 054 switches and other locations on my layout.

Following feedback on the forum I was able to replace the stock rollers with shorter MTH rollers (photo 1) reducing the overall spacing to 7.5 inches. All better . . . except I just couldn't bring myself to be accept the short hood forward arrangement. It just looks wrong -- like a sword pointed backwards! The solution: reverse the shell on the chassis. A couple of board position tweaks were needed and had to remove and anchor (cable tie) that dumb direction lockout switch. The lamp plugs are the same at both ends so that's good. Finally going the right way (photo 2).

Sadly both engineers had to be retired (photo 3) -- for now. The are held in place by a small screw that goes up through the bottom of the seat -- ouch! They look happy enough though. I would be too after having that screw removed!

Had not thought of that and it makes perfect sense. Plus, looking into the cab from the outside, you wouldn't see the engine being driven by a giant capacitor!

I saw this loco at the wght show this past weekend. Dealers selling them for$250.00, same price just like Weaver models conventional units.

What concerns me about the WBB is the funky fuel tank/battery box modification to accept the 50mm [2"] speaker.

Can anyone tell me if the weaver models unit has a speaker in thier fuel tank?
