I have three WBB steamers with True Blast. Not very impressive.
From an ease perspective, would upgrading these to TB+ be any easier than ERR sounds? Pricing appears to be comparable, so I'm looking at whether TB+ would be plug-and-play.

ERR railsounds are an easy install. Recently they have cut the maximum volume considerably. They are still better than (not so) True Blast, IMO.
That's what I figured. A fellow forum member has upgraded several of my other WBB engines with Cruise Commander and Railsounds, and I've been very happy. I've been thinking about making the attempt myself next time.
I have no complaint with the volume of the ERR RS Commander with a decent speaker. I install tons of them, and nobody seems upset about the volume.
The first time can be daunting, but after that, they are easy. Go for it! 
ERR RS Commander is very easy to install, instruction very concise and easily understood by anyone. And the upgrade in quality, well, speaks for itself.

John, do you use the speaker that comes with the sound system, or do you use a different one? If different, which one, please?
I have been building F-3 B units with fat boy speakers and using tomato paste cans, or large pill bottles for speaker enclosures. They sound good at home and on the bench, but at club layouts they are not loud enough.
I presume you do remember to turn the volume control up on the RS Commander, right? They ship it at half-mast. I use a variety of speakers, depending on the job. I usually try to add a baffle if possible. The best results have been with two speakers in a large tender. I may not need them and loud as you do, hard to say.
