Before I switched from Legacy Base/Cab2 control system to the the Base3/Cab3 control system the Gantry Crane worked as it should. I use the Legacy Control Modules, in the case the SER2 to control the Gantry. Now, the crane will not rotate. I can raise and lower the magnetic 'hook' and turn the magnet off and on using the Cab3 app or the Cab 1L. I gifted my Legacy Base and Cab2 to my grandson, so I can't remember if my Cab2 with the new control system worked the rotation of the Gantry... Anyone experience the same issue and if so, any fixes? Thanks.

I'm having the same problem as Ed. I'm using the Base3/Cab3 with SER2 as well.
The Legacy Base/Cab2 control system worked like a champ.
R_Whitley, have you tried using the Cab2 with Base3?
I also sent a question about this issue to TalkToUS@lionel.com If I get a response, I'll post it.
Same issue. Worked with Cab2/Base2. Limited functionality with Cab3/Base3. Have not tried Cab2/Base3 combo. Will tonight and report back.

Have you tried engaging the "Red Knob" on the Cab3 App to see if it worked? Double tap the speed number above the throttle control to get the red knob.

Mike, My Gantry Crane works great while using the Cab2 and Base3 together. The Big Red Dial on the Cab3 not so good at all.

Are you up-to-date with the Cab 3 software? I know when I first tried mine a few revs ago, the Cab 3 app didn't send out the right commands to control the crane. I did see those commands in the most recent version (1.1.47 - 157).
The other thing to check is that you have the "engine type" field set to TMCC or Cab-1. If you set it to "legacy", it definitely won't work.

Dave, I tried both the TMCC and Cab1 settings on the Cab 3 app with the same results. The big red turn dial may move the crane a couple degrees at times, no matter if I crank the dial to max. It appears to have a delayed reaction even then with no directional rotation control. I doubled checked with my Cab2 and it functions great. The control boom rotation range is working perfect along with the up/down boom and magnet on the Cab2.
Any ideas?

I'm afraid all I can suggest is to contact Dave at Lionel 😢. I will try my crane this weekend when I have some time with my layout. The Crane uses "relative" speed commands, whereas engines use "absolute" commands. Looking at the echoed TMCC commands thru my software, using the Cab-3 on my iPhone (rev 1.1.47) the "big red knob" is only sending "Relative Speed -2" commands (relative speeds go from -5 to 5). It really doesn't look right at all

Marty, I have. It will turn the crane in only one direction very slowly. I mean very slowly. Sometimes not at all. The Cab1L will not turn the crane.

This is consistent with what I'm seeing with the commands being generated
@R Whitley, I just tried something. On your Cab-3, change the "Motive Type" to "Crane Car". That sends out a more reliable set of relative speed commands.
I will try this myself later tomorrow.

Dave,
I changed my Cab-3, "Motive Type" to "Crane Car" and now it works just fine.

Well that makes a lot of sense. Good catch!

Dave, I just tried that. I do get the icons associated with the Crane Car. However the swivel of the crane did not improve...still very, very slow if it moves at all. The Big Red Dial on the app does not move the crane. The only discernable improvement is the crane will swivel in both directions. Thanks for the suggestion...Glad it's working for you.
