I received my Pennsy Battleship Gondola a couple of weeks ago and finally got around to opening up the box today.

it’s a great model and it’s nice to see a new model and not a new paint job on an old shell..

One question… what is the two small chains included with the car for and where do they go on the car?

see picture below.

Thank,
Richard

I was late to the party on these cars, and just received my two 3-rail Virginian cars today - beautifully detailed cars (and the real coal inserts are fabulous and heavy)!!! I don’t believe that the package was chains… Here is a picture of the contents of one of my small packages - I can’t seem to find where these pieces should be attached!!!

I’d be interested if anyone can shed some light on the use of these pieces… @sdmann???

Ok,

I tried to install the angel cocks on the gondola. It looks as if the three rail couplers will not clear the angle cocks.

I assume that the angel cocks can not be installed on the three rail version of the battleship gondola.

correct ?

Thanks ,

RG

Unless you "pull an Atlas" or "an MTH" by securing the angle cock and airline to the lobster claw coupler shank.

I have O96 curves.

The gondola never made it onto the layout with the angle cock attached.

I had to widen the two holes in the gondola in order to make the studs on the angle cock fit.

I installed one angle cock with a small drop of CA glue. I turned the truck by hand and the coupler knocked off the angle cock.

At that point even though I have wide curves I figured the angle cocks would be easily broken off when handling the gondola.

I put the angle cocks back in the box.

As stated above, I really like the Battleship Gondola. It’s a new different car and not a new paint job on an existing model.

I appreciate everyone’s help and comments.

Thanks!
