Many years ago when I built my last layout I was able to purchase (I believe at Home Depot) from their rug department a green felt pad type of material which was used to cover the boards. Now as I try to build a new layout that material does not appear to be available. Does anybody have any idea if it is, where I could get it, and what do you people use? The layout is simple, tracks on boards, accessories all around. Thanks in advance for the info...STAN

How about felt from someplace like Joann Fabrics?
I used their green felt to line the bottom of an eight foot antique showcase.
While I no longer have the case, it looked great!

Try Michaels or Walmart they have sheets of green felt fabric available for train table layouts.
I would recommend JoAnn Fabrics.
Their felt rolls are available 72" wide (x 25 yards (don't ask me how I know...)) A yard is about $4.99 or 5.99, but they often have 40% or 50% sales.
They have 2 shades of green, both look nice on a layout.
On my modular layout that Don mentioned, I use black felt for roads. I cut to shape then use spray glue on the back and put in position.
