Will be heading to the Portland and Seattle area in the next few weeks. Any good stops that I should make while I am there?

Stop in at East Side Trains in Kirkland. But be sure to leave your credit cards in the hotel. Even if they are stolen it will be cheaper!
Rolland
Larry Brown took me to East Side Trains and it was one of the best train stores I have ever visited. Great store run by great people.
- Tacoma Trains
- Tammie's hobbies in Portland
- Whistle Stop in Portland
Leisure Hobbies in Salem Oregon, small selection in O, with great customer service. Worth visiting for the atmosphere.
Seattle is a great city so make it down to the water front and Pikes market.
There is the NMRA show in Portland next weekend if you can make it that will be a huge show.
But as mentioned Eastside is the best shop around.
Thanks everyone for your replies. I will try to get to Eastside in Kirkland, but I know that I am going to be in Portland, starting on Wednesday. My daughter all ready has me going on the Mt Hood train while I am there. I am going to look over the convention materials on line and go to as much of that as I can. Also must get some "Voodoo" doughnuts while I am there.
Just another shout out for East Side Trains.
Stopped there during a business trip a couple of years ago and was shocked by how deep their inventory was and how well it was displayed.
i have been to the museum before and have seen the ALCO PA there and at Spencer a couple of years ago, but I may go back again. I need to stay away from the doughnuts, but I can only get them once a year.
I agree with p51 about the over-hyped donuts... they're good but not worthy of more than about 10 minutes out of your way if driving.
My sweetie is from Portland and my kids live in a northern burb of Seattle so I encourage you to consider taking the train from Portland to Seattle and enjoy the beautiful scenery, have a meal on the train and RELAX. You can always rent a car when you get to "Microsoft" land.
Most of all... HAVE FUN !!!!
Best,
Dave
