It's TEAM TRACK TUESDAY!! Share your railroad's team track action photos here!
Remember, team tracks are a vital part of real railroading's day to day operations. Most all types of freight cars can be off/on loaded on team tracks, as can be most passenger train head end equipment. MOW equipment can also utilize the team track for servicing as well.
Afer a week off ... TTT is back on!! Looking forward to seeing Mark Dif's new weathered boxcar on the TEAM TRACK! ALSO looking forward to seeing other team track operations from anyone wishing to post. Photos of real railroad team track operations are always welcomed too!
For today's TTT, I weathered this coil car which I purchased this past April at York from Mike Wolf ( not his personally ) when I was at the MTH parts booth. He told me to make him an offer he couldn't refuse, which I did! Just getting around to weathering this car today.
This week on the Free State Junction Railway's team track one, located in Lower Patsburg, a steel coil car is being unloaded. The coils will be transported via flatbed/Lowboy trailer to Allied Prefab Metal Structures Corp. just outside Patsburg. Once at APMSC the steel will be shaped into metal components for large metal buildings such as garages, airplane hangers, storage buildings, etc.
Big Hooker has been called into service to do the heavy lifting. A Plymouth 25 ton switcher is employed to maneuver Big Hooker into place and to stay with the crane throughout the entirety of the job. The crane will have to move back and forth on the track a few times before completing the job.
The first task is to lift the cover off the coil car. Once removed, the cover will be placed on the flat bed trailer and moved to another location while the coils are being unloaded. An identical empty flatbed trailer will be moved into place and the coils will be loaded onto this trailer for transport to APMSC's plant a few miles away. After all this is completed, the trailer holding the cover will be backed into place, Big Hooker will lift the cover back onto the coil car so the car can be returned to Bethlehem Steel Corp.
Have a wonderfully fun and creative week!! See ya next week on the TEAM TRACK!
