How do y'all replace the incandescent streamlight strips with LED strips and the GRJ constant current supply? Modify the original or save the original and maybe out of pc board, make new boards. Ideas? Pictures?

I ruin them. Cut off the posts with a Dremel disk, then pull off the light strip, de-solder the pigtail and save for soldering to led strip. Then cut off posts flush to roof and stick the led strip on the roof. Hot glue or double side tape pcb to roof or inside interior somewhere out of sight. I do save the original light strip although I don’t know why, cause I haven’t reused one for anything yet. Hope this helps.

TEDW; maybe for building lighting, where you don't necessarily want the intensity of continuous LED's? It sounds like you have this procedure down pretty good.

I lop all the posts off and smooth the roof to install the strip. I've never saved the old lighting strips, though I did give a bunch away once. As far as building lighting, I can't think of a scenario where I couldn't use LED lighting, after all, you can adjust the intensity of the lighting to your liking, and you can have any color temperature you desire. LED lighting uses far less power and generates far less heat, both good things in passenger cars or anywhere else.
I've only done a few LIONEL pax cars with streamlighting panels. I pop the panels off the hangers and save the light panels for future use.
The hangers will be used in the future to install interiors in several dome cars I have that pre-date LIONEL's installation of dome interiors with figures; the same support used for the lamp panels is used for the dome interiors with figures:

And LIONEL charges $.90 ea.; and I'm thrifty.
If I can't think of a use for the light panels, I'll post a "Free" listing and they'll go somewhere.
