I've seen on the net a Postwar Lionel NW2 C&O switcher, with apparently a motor truck that comes from an Alco. The Alco ladders were on it, that's why I started to wonder.

Further details weren't visible. Is that actually possible, changing a NW motor truck for an Alco without extra drilling in either frame or truck (and possibly ruining things)?

With kindest regards,

Kieffer

I assume you mean a 624, diecast framed switcher. As far as I know it is the same truck as was used on the diecast framed Alcos, including the side frames. The ladders are just pressed on, into four holes in the side frame castings. I believe all side frames have the holes. So you can either pop the ladders off, or just replace the side frames. each side is held on by one screw.

I don't know how readily available the side frames are. The geared side is different then the non-geared. The non-power trucks use the non-geared side frame on both sides.
