My Menards Jeep (1:48) arrived in the mail today. What a beautifully detailed fine-scale model – and only $9.99! About $15 including USPS shipping. The tires and wheels are especially nice and the windshield folds flat or upright. The finest and most meaningful model on my layout. My father was a US Army mechanic in Europe during WW2 and repaired Jeeps and trucks. This will never be removed from its place on my layout.

Now that's what I call Piggyback!

I finally was able to get my order in,  my mail was not sending, I rebooted and it is fine, dang Dell !  Ordered 3 halftracks, one lighted sign ( loved the cow crack.  that is funny) and four more jeeps. . I will have about ten to twelve of them, I can make one of the one pictured above. I will have to make turnbuckles to keep them in place for them also  first I need to finish about 1000 other projects  first

Yes,

Paint that gas can olive drab green, PLEASE!

These 5 gallon gas cans, a.k.a. “ MOGAS” can were never painted red. The only 5 gallon  cans that  l saw  painted were those used for diesel fuel. These cans had a subdued yellow color painted around the top of the can.

In any case the mogas cans , shovel, pick, ax , radio equipment other than radio mounts and matching units, and never ever machine guns / weapon systems  were never shipped with the jeep. Anything that could walk off in a rail yard or siding was removed during shipping. As seen on the pictures canvas tops were also removed during shipping. The picture of the jeep in shipment with the cavas top was unusual to see.

it drives me nuts when I see military vehicle loads on flat cars all decked out for combat.

Thanks,

Richard, you hit it right on the head.  I was an Ordnance officer and we shipped a lot of vehicles and big weapons and NOTHING was shipped with all of its equipment.  We even put up separate shipments for some items and sent them on different vehicles or different shippers.

Makes me nuts when some movie or TV show has bad guys stealing guns... complete with loaded magazines, sling, even some optical sighting rigs.  I love NCIS, but really.....?

Would someone kindly post the overall length and width of the Menards Jeep? Are the shovel and five gallon can easily removable or should they be ground off? Does the windshield fold flat or kind of flat?

My measurements of the Menards Jeep are:

length = 2-3/4 inches = 132 inches full scale = 11 feet full scale

width = 1-7/32 inches = 58.5 inches full scale = 4 feet-10.5 inches full scale

wheelbase = 1-21/32 inches = 79.5 inches = 6 feet-7.5 inches

As best I can tell, the gas can, spare wheel/tire, seats, and steering wheel are separate pieces from the main casting. The shovel appears to be cast in with very fine paint delineation. The windshield folds almost (but not fully) flat from the normal position. Everything about the model is satisfactory to me exactly as it is.
