I pinched myself - the MTH 2015 Big Boy will be MTH's first O gauge locomotive with whistle steam. And with MTH's already amazing stack smoke effect that's best in class, I imagine its whistle steam will be head and shoulders over anything else.  I don't need a BB as I have the VL BB on order but I really like MTH products, and the company's philosophy and want to keep supporting MTH.  So my dilemma is - now that MTH will offer whistle steam, I am even more reticent to buy any MTH steamer right now, despite seeing 4-5 that I would really like to add to our roster.  Why?  Because I'd rather wait till the steamers I want are offered with whistle steam.  Anyone else feeling this way?

Nope. JDS Ltd is offering this as a conversion for your PS-2 engines now! Previously this feature was a "Conventional Only" function. Not any more. Quilling whistle steam, along with Blow-down steam and a bunch of other neat upgrades are now available for your Command Control engines.

Check JDS out! Jeff has converted several engines for me and I have been extremely satisfied with his work. This is my N&W K3.

That IS good news. But didn't see any of the features you mention in the short video you posted.  Could you post a video that shows the features?  Are these upgrades available for MTH or only Lionel command control?  And is the steam effect like what I've come to expect from MTH or more anemic, like that produced by Lionel?  Finally, what's the price for all this?  I suppose it a time/patience issue, as there's no way an MTH engine with factory whistle steam will cost as much as the cost of same engine with the third-party upgrade.

Jeff debuted the command control whistle steam at York.  My K3 predates these features. I have email Jeff and asked for a video of his most recent work.
