Try posting this question in the 'Track Plans and Layout Design' forum. You will probably get more advice than you need...... When posting there, the first question asked is what are the dimensions and how does it fit in the room. Your co-designers need to know the location of any obstacles, doors, windows, hot waters heaters, etc. Basically, the more information you give, the better the results.
Also, look at the designs already in the 'Track Plans and Layout Design' forum. There may already be a good starting point for you.

for one idea of an L shaped layout. Post gives details if you want to build an conventional 027 layout with homemade turntable.

One place I look when I need ideas is to do a Google search
and look at the links and the images. An upscaled 8 ' x 6' HO layout may be what you are looking for.

Before you starting track arranging, you may want to consider what you want to accomplish. What style of a layout are you seeking? Toy? Real? Combination? If real, what railroad is this? Where is it? What will it be doing? How are you and others going to interact with it? I can tell you from over forty-five years of experience in this hobby in multiple scales that the more you have to do, the more interaction you have, the more fun it will be.
You've got a good area. Ask yourself exactly what is it you want to do?
Are you looking to build a model railroad or a display loop(s) or a toy layout?
Looking for something simple to run 2 trains at same time. I am really into accessories. How do I see plans on this web site , I need how many of each. Hope I'm not asking too much , thank u for your time GP
